Rancho Sierra Vista Satwiwa waterfall hike up close

This was my first time doing the Rancho Sierra Vista waterfall hike. This hike is 3.6 miles round trip. It took me around 2 hours of hiking and I spent an hour climbing up the waterfall taking lots of photos. Southern California got a few inches of much needed rain 3 weeks ago. I have not seen the Santa Monica mountains this green in a long time. You can still see a lot of damage from the springs fire at the top of the canyon, on the first half of this hike. At the bottom of the canyon, I hopped stones across the creek bed, into a different world full of lush green plant life.

I found this beautiful leaf floating in the waterfall. I love macro photography, you can see the veins in this leaf.

This bright green algae was all over the rocks of the waterfall.

The California tree frogs were the highlight of this hike. I was happy to see the California tree frogs still around even after the Springs wildfire. I was so excited to see a bunch of frogs hopping around the waterfalls.
