Surreal sea

Different lenses can make usual landscapes look extraordinary. This day was great to test out my lensbaby due to how many clouds there were in the sky, and the contrast it provides making the palm trees really pop out.

Clouds over the ocean are always a sight to see, and today was exceptionally beautiful with fluffy clouds floating over the Anacapa Islands.

Due to the recent hurricane over the Hawaiian islands, we are getting the remnants of the storm which has caused some rather large waves, even getting up to 20 feet!

After a few weeks of calm, we are back to large foamy waves and high tides.

Another beautiful beach day

Beach dunes are unique in that they are made of sand yet have vibrant plant life, looking like they are from a different planet.

The perspective on this photo makes it look like a large mountain against the cloudy sky.

When clouds cover the beach, it gives the sand a copper color and the water a dark teal. It’s amazing how many different colors one landscape can have.

The tide has been high in the past few days which has causes waves to crash where the pier stairs are. It offers a rare look into earth taking over man made structures, however everyone in this town is hoping for revitalization as quickly as possible.

County fair by the sea

Not many rides at the county fair are as famous as the swing ride, often clad in paintings and neon lights. Most would agree that at night the swing has the most unique look as the lights spin round and round.

Rides like this swinging arm make the sense of danger heightened, but it’s all in good fun.

The infamous ferris wheel is a county fair staple, and offers an amazing vantage point for a full view of the surroundings.

This ferris wheel had rather large carriage’s, looking to hold upwards of 6 people and offer one of the best views in the fair.

This is a covered life guard stand awaiting the upcoming beachgoers of the summer.

The clouds were vibrant and the ocean was dark this day. The water had a real shimmer to it reflecting off the clouds.

Birds of the seashore

The ocean always offers a new view daily, especially when it comes to unique clouds. As one would say, no one picture is ever the same when capturing the sky.

I was lucky to catch these birds flying in unison under the swooping clouds.

Birds always seem to fly close to the shore when it’s cloudy and the tide is high. It makes walking out on the beach exciting when pelicans fly right over my head.

More pelicans flying in unison, this picture shows them changing direction and you can see the way birds flow like a chain.

Sitting by the seashore

Today the sea had quite the green tone to it, giving it a dark look.

Capturing birds in motion can be difficult, but sometimes I catch them at just the right moment. These two were flying away in a hurry, perhaps to search for food.

The pier has a desolate feeling since it has been closed, just sitting in the glimmering sea.

Swim & surf

The Port Hueneme beach has gone through a dramatic transformation over the past few years with water eroding the sand quite rapidly. As you can see, the lifeguard station is rather close to the sand cliff and the yellow flag is seen dancing in the wind.

As clouds blanket the sky, it offered a rare moment of shade to capture the unique patterns.

Sunset is always beautiful on the beach, and today had a rather cloudy sunset that offered very vibrant deep colors of blue, grey, and purple.

This is one of the most unique cloud patterns I have seen. The dark blue cloud looks almost as if it’s wrapping itself around the atmosphere and the scale is quite large compared to the palm trees in the background.

Camping at Florence lake

These photos were taken at Florence Lake in the Sierra Nevada Mountain’s in California. This is a very secluded area only accessible by a one lane road. This particular picture was taken at Florence Lake, one of the biggest lakes in the area.

Ward lake is a small lake near Florence Lake that offers one of the most beautiful views in all of California. This lake is filled with many smaller fish and bald eagles can be seen soaring over the lake in the afternoons.

This picture was taken at sunset in Jackass Meadows, a peaceful place away from the rest of the world. The contrast in the sky was extremely vibrant pinks and purples that lasted for 10 minutes. A very small window to capture this moment in time.

Sandy hook seashore

This photo was taken south of Fort Hancock in Sandy Hook, New Jersey. The beach offers an amazing view of downtown Manhattan, with the newly constructed World Trade Center as the centerpiece.

The beach in Sandy Hook has many shrubs and tall grass that make it seem more like a meadow than the shore. This type of landscape makes the New Jersey beaches very unique.

There is a lot of space on the beach in late spring however during certain summer days it can be at full capacity with very little room to sit. This day was fairly empty due to colder weather which offered a nice clean view.

The clouds were very whispy on this day considering it was quite windy. Unfortunately the water was still very cold but it was quite peaceful with tiny waves crashing on the pebbles.
