It’s amazing what you can find when you simply keep an eye out, like these flowers for example. One would think they belong on a different planet, but they are very much on Earth.

When you look at cinnamon up close, it’s quite rugged and looks almost torn like a rug, but under that curled brown leaf is a delicious treat that goes on a lot of foods.

What makes peppers so great for photographing is the almost waxy exterior that makes them really shine and pop out in the right light. I really enjoy comparison photos as well because you can see these peppers also change color gradually. Amazing!

With a stem longer than the body, this orange pepper caught my eye in the market, just begging to be captured. While there isn’t smooth edges like the previous two peppers, this one has a beautiful hint of reds and orange that make it shine.

Crazy about kale

I’ve taken a liking to food photography recently, since it’s very important in our lives, why not document the things that provide us sustenance?

Title: Kale leaf

Looking closer at Kale, we find it has a rather veiny appearance just like humans. However these veins are purely green and rather delicious!

I was in a ranch market when this purple Kale caught my eye instantly, a very unique vegetable that I hadn’t really seen before and since purple is my favorite color, I knew it was calling me.

Rustic mushroom photography

These photos were also taken at Seaside Garden, however flowers weren’t the topic this time. It took quite some time to find various mushrooms after the recent rain storm in the area. The pay off was well worth the search.

Title: Mushroom top
Location: Carpinteria, California
Camera: NIKON D80
Lens: 24-70mm f/2.8

These tiny bulbed mushrooms were hidden in brush, looking a little burned and withered but still pretty nonetheless.

Often times we find mushrooms in dark and dank places, but these were more out in the open considering the environment. What caught my eye was the pack of bulbous mushrooms looking pristine except for small specs of dirt.

Title: Group of little mushrooms

A little sun behind the flat capped mushrooms show you just how close these were to being exposed, however not all mushrooms require darkness to thrive.
